  1. We, the Wellingborough Museum, recently investigated becoming a Tourist Information Centre in Northamptonshire, now also confusing known as a Visitor Information Centre. We almost signed up, only to find that the website is not up to standard with very few entries, even for hotels. And did you know that there are two Wellingboroughs in Northamptonshire? You tell them and it is not corrected. I applied in January for our museum to be listed. Nothing happened. There are so many "what's on" websites and as a tourist attraction we cannot send information to them all. The TIC website should be the best, but it does not perform for us.
By the way, to comment here, I haven't a clue what the different 'Profiles' mean to post here so I have tried Anonymous as it doesn't bring up any strange boxes, but we are at 12 Castle Way Wellingborough NN8 1XB.

  2. I do hope that, as well as recommending a single unifying online directory of cultural providers (ghastly expression!)/performers, venues and facilities, the needs of those who can't or won't engage with the internet will not be neglected. There are several socio-economic groups who would be excluded by relying on the provision of information online, and they are some of the groups we should most wish to reach! More sharing of such information and links to other information sources should be encouraged too.
